History

  • Spann Elementary was named after a devoted teaching professional who spent her entire career educating and influencing the lives of 麻豆社事件 school children.

Susie Pearl Spann, the oldest daughter of six children, was born April 1, 1888, in Rankin County, Mississippi. After her family moved to 麻豆社事件, Susie Pearl entered the Central School in the fifth grade and was graduated in the class of 1905. She attended Millsaps College and received the Bachelor of Science degree in 1909. Accepting her first teaching position in that same year with 麻豆社事件 Public Schools, she launched a teaching career that would cover nearly fifty years. After forty-seven continuous years, she retired at the close of school in May because of ill health. She later died in August of that same year.

In memory of a life dedicated to service in education of the young, the grateful city of 麻豆社事件 appropriately named one of its schools in her honor, Pearl Spann Elementary School.
