Dr. Shanika McKinney
Dr. Shanika McKinney has been appointed as the Assistant Principal of Henry J. Kirksey Middle School for the 2024-2025 school year. This is Dr. McKinney's 10th year in education and 6th year in administration. She has previously served in the roles of School Counselor, Assistant Principal, Elementary Principal, Dean of Students, and Interim Middle School Principal.
Dr. McKinney is from St. Louis, Missouri by way of the Golden Triangle Area in Northeast Mississippi. She began her academic career at Mississippi State University, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Educational Psychology in 2010, a Master's degree in School Counseling in 2013, and an Educational Specialist's degree with a minor in Educational Leadership in 2018. She received her Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi in 2022.
Dr. McKinney believes all students can learn in the right environment with an equitable and culturally relevant pedagogical approach. Her goal is to serve the students, faculty/staff, and parents with excellence and assist in ensuring Kirksey is a Model School.
She is a lifelong learner and excited to continue her professional career in 麻豆社事件 Public Schools.
